Week 4 Forum

Topic 1-
I found the code that said "Treat all subjects with respect and dignity. Give special consideration to vulnerable subjects and compassion to victims of crime or tragedy. Intrude on private moments of grief only when the public has an overriding and justifiable need to see" to be the most intriguing because it is the only on that is left up to the photographer's judgment. There isn't a set definition of what the public has a need to see. The photographer has to decide what that means.

The second thing that I found most interesting was "Strive for total and unrestricted access to subjects, recommend alternatives to shallow or rushed opportunities, seek a diversity of viewpoints, and work to show unpopular or unnoticed points of view". This one was interesting to me because it said to work to show unpopular or unnoticed points of view. I feel like that is something that is kind of under attack today. People aren't really fond of knowing the truth sometimes, and photographers are sometimes condemned for taking those kinds of pictures, which I feel is going against our 1st amendment.  So it is really important to keep showing people what the don't really like or want to see.

Topic 2-
Hussein Hassan's week 2 photo of the 2 guys in the computer lab is one of my favorites because the composition is good, and the expressions are good. You can really tell what is going on based on their environment.

My other favorite photo is the one by Julia of the chef. I really like how she included the condiment bottles in the foreground. It is really well composed and it gives you a really good idea about what is going on without even reading the captions. There is really great lighting and it is sharply focused. It is also at a good angle with kind of looking up at the chef.
